Intro to Mysore

• 60 Minutes • 4 Week Course • 1 Morning Per Week (Thurs)

Ashtanga yoga is a dynamic practice which moves through a set sequence of postures, synchronising breath and movement, known as Vinyasa.  The Introduction to Mysore course is intended for students interested in learning the traditional method of Ashtanga yoga. The course is designed for the absolute beginner, yogis transitioning from other styles and led classes, and more experienced practitioners looking to rebuild their practice after time away or recovery from an injury. Instruction will be given during the already on-going mysore program.

 

What will I learn?

  • You will be taught the fundamentals of Ashtanga yoga as taught to us by our teacher, Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.

  • The background of Ashtanga yoga.

  • The dynamic Surya Namaskara (sun salutation) sequence.

  • How to breathe to focus the mind and move the body with awareness.

  • The initial poses of the Ashtanga primary series, also called, Yoga Chikitsa (yoga therapy).

  • The stabilising internal muscular locks (bandhas) which help us to balance strength with flexibility in the body and to create stability in the body.

  • There will be many opportunities to ask questions and your experienced teacher will guide you through the practice, offering modifications to your individual needs, in an open and supportive environment.

  • Building on what you've learnt each week, once the course is completed you'll feel confident to join our Mysore program.

     

What is the cost?

$100 plus you will receive a free class to use anytime.

Courses are non-refundable under any circumstances. We are happy to credit or transfer courses on a case by case basis.
